Johannesburg: India is now on its way to becoming the largest energy supplier in the Global South. If everything goes well, then the day is not far when India will emerge as the largest energy supplier for the Global South. A major energy summit took place between India and South Africa on Thursday, where the foundation of future relations for the Global South was laid. Earlier, during the recent G-20 conference held in Brazil, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had indicated to increase India's energy participation in the countries of the Global South. Now an important energy conference held between India and South Africa in Johannesburg has created concern from America to China.

Let us tell you that moving forward in this direction, the first energy conference between India and South Africa was organized in Johannesburg on Thursday. During this period, a major agreement was also signed between the two countries to train future energy professionals. The organizers described this 2-day conference as a great success. Named 'Matla-Urja Energy Conference' ('Matla' means 'power' in Sesotho language), more than 200 delegates shared their views in the energy sector. Reviewing the events at the closing dinner on Thursday evening, Consul General Mahesh Kumar highlighted some of the successes of the conference. “We have brought together the best people from Indian business and academia and their South African counterparts,” Kumar said.

India-South Africa's deepening friendship

Ever since India made South Africa a permanent member of G-20 in the year 2023, its hold in the countries of the Global South is continuously getting stronger. Also, friendship with South Africa has deepened. Let us inform that on Wednesday, Indian and South African academics and researchers came together to discuss issues related to academic power sector reforms, future of electricity, energy modeling, pricing and its socio-economic aspects.'' He said, ' 'Then, on Thursday, we took the discussion forward to the practical aspects of how business approaches these issues.'

“This shows the huge opportunities that exist for everyone in the power sector,” the diplomat said. From our perspective, these two-day talks were very successful.'' Professor Maurice Radebe, Head of Wits Business School, said the conference would help delegates better understand the UN's Strategic Development Goals aimed at reducing poverty and hunger. Got help.
