Kathmandu: Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that there will be no agreement regarding the loan during his upcoming visit to China. PM Oli will go on an official visit to China on December 2. During a meeting with former prime ministers and foreign ministers at the Prime Minister's Office 'Singh Darbar', Oli claimed that the 'Belt and Road' initiative with China was not a debt-based agreement and there was no need to discuss it now. Should a loan be taken from China or not?
What did PM Oli say?
Oli clearly said, “We take loans or grants from any country or agency when we need them, based on our national interests.” We should not be influenced by this baseless rumor that loans are being taken to trap the country under the burden of debt.'' He said, ''We have friendly relations with China. I will visit this neighboring country to make our friendship more multidimensional.'' He said, ''Whichever country we choose for our first visit, we will ensure sovereignty, independence and freedom as well as national welfare and global welfare. Give top priority.
Nepal will talk to China on these issues
Oli told the meeting that effective implementation of previous agreements with China, export of Nepalese products to China and other related issues of cooperation will be mainly raised during their high-level meeting in Beijing. He said that Nepal also has similar friendly relations with another neighboring country, India. The PM stressed the need to leverage cordial relations with both the countries for Nepal's economic development. (Language)
