Los Angeles (USA): There is bad news for the companies selling Pepsi and Coca-Cola. In America, major action has been taken against these two companies for selling beverages in plastic bottles. Los Angeles County has taken action against Pepsi and Coke for increasing plastic pollution and filed a case against them. Los Angeles County alleges in a lawsuit filed Wednesday that PepsiCo and Coca-Cola misled the public about the recycling of their plastic bottles and downplayed the negative environmental and health impacts of plastic.

Let us tell you that Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsay Horvath said in a statement, “Coke and Pepsi must stop the fraud and take responsibility for the problems of plastic pollution caused by their products.” Because this is polluting the environment. Los Angeles County will continue to take action against companies that engage in deceptive and unfair business practices that have a serious impact on the environment.” Coca-Cola has been among the top plastic polluters in the U.S. and Coca-Cola has held the top spot for six years.

57 lakh metric tons of plastic is used

These two companies together use more than 57 lakh metric tons of plastic every year. According to 'Break Free from Plastic', PepsiCo produces approximately 25 lakh metric tons of plastic annually, while Coca-Cola produces approximately 32 lakh 24 thousand metric tons of plastic annually. An EU consumer protection group and environmental organizations filed a legal complaint against Coca-Cola, Nestlé and Danone in November last year, accusing them of misleading by claiming their packaging was 100 percent recyclable.
