Why did the violence happen in Sambhal?

In Sambhal, a lawyer had filed a petition in the local court saying that the Shahi Jama Masjid should be destroyed. This mosque is built at the same place where earlier there used to be a temple. On the orders of the court, the team went to survey. On the second day of the survey, a large number of people arrived and started protesting against the survey. During this time, four people died in the clash between the protesting people and the security forces. After this incident, the situation in Sambhal is tense and a large number of security forces are deployed to maintain law and order.

What in the ASI report?

The Archaeological Survey of India has said in its reply in the court that changes have been made in the structure of the mosque. Along with this, some pictures have also been presented. An old well was seen on the left side of the main entrance of the mosque by the team of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Meerut Division, which has now been covered by the mosque committee/administration, a large room was constructed over the well for the security team. Has gone. The tank and floor of the mosque have also been changed. The mosque is completely painted with thick layers of enamel paint. Plaster of Paris has been used due to which the original form of the mosque has been destroyed. Presently a glass dome has been attached to the dome of the main hall of the mosque by an iron chain. Two chambers, a small room-like structure were found on the western side and a chamber was found in the northern part of the mosque. The actual remains of the old roof are visible only in the small room-like structure. These rooms generally remain closed.
