Barnala (Punjab): Congress Punjab unit President Pratap Singh Bajwa targeted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of the state. He alleged that it has 'failed' on all fronts. Every section of the society is 'feeling cheated'. Bajwa, leader of opposition in the Assembly, also told reporters here that farmers were facing difficulties in the mandis due to 'slowness' in procurement and lifting of paddy by the state government.
Election promise not fulfilled
Before the assembly by-election, Bajwa had reached Barnala to campaign in favor of Congress candidate Kuldeep Singh Dhillon. He was also accompanied by MP Amar Singh and former minister Balbir Singh Sidhu. Bajwa said that in the last two and a half years, Aam Aadmi Party has not fulfilled any of its election promises. He said, “Tell us any one promise made to farmers, employees and women which he has fulfilled.”
Every section is feeling cheated
State Congress President said that Bhagwant Mann's government did not keep the promise of Rs 1000 every month to women. He said that later Mann claimed that he would give Rs 1100 per month to each woman. He alleged, “Not a single penny has been given to the women till now. Every section is feeling cheated. It has failed in every situation.'' On the issue of paddy procurement, Bajwa said farmers are being 'looted' in the mandis and they are being forced to accept a cut of Rs 300 per quintal.
Appeal to vote in favor of Kuldeep Singh Dhillon
“Chief Minister Mann did not bother to visit any grain market in the state to take stock of the situation,” he said, adding that meeting the Prime Minister and the Union Food Minister and raising the issue of 'slowness' in paddy lifting It is the responsibility of the Chief Minister. He also said that farmers are still facing shortage of DAP fertilizer for wheat sowing. Bajwa appealed to the people to vote in favor of Congress candidate Kuldeep Singh Dhillon in the by-election on November 20. Countering the claim of BJP candidate Kewal Singh Dhillon, Bajwa said that the Congress government declared Barnala as a district in 2006 and it was not due to the efforts of any individual. Earlier this week, Kewal Singh Dhillon had claimed credit for the formation of Barnala district in 2006. Apart from Congress and BJP candidates, AAP's Harinder Singh Dhaliwala, Akali Dal (Amritsar's) Govind Singh Mann and AAP's rebel and independent candidate Gurdeep Singh Bath are in the fray in the Barnala by-election.
