The counting of votes for the 288 seats of the Maharashtra Assembly has almost been completed and the Mahayuti alliance has got a big victory. Whereas the opposition alliance Mahavikas Aghadi has suffered a crushing defeat. The biggest challenge is who will hold the post of CM among the parties involved in the Mahayuti alliance. It is being reported quoting sources that the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra may be from BJP. The first name coming up is that of Devendra Fadnavis and Fadnavis can be the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. This is also being said because RSS's first choice for Chief Minister is Devendra Fadnavis.
Fadnavis resigned in 2019
BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis had resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra after being in power for only four days due to the change in NDA alliance in Maharashtra after the victory in December 2019. Then facing his former colleague Uddhav Thackeray, Fadnavis quoted a famous couplet and promised to return again. Five years later, he kept his promise. The Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Ajit Pawar's NCP and Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, has achieved a landslide victory in the assembly elections.
