There is an uproar regarding the age of Hemant Soren in the Jharkhand Assembly elections 2024. The former CM of the state has stated his age as 49 years in the election affidavit. The special thing is that in 2019, Hemant Soren had declared his age as 42 years. In such a situation, he himself is claiming that his age has increased by seven years in the last five years. There is an uproar in Jharkhand on this issue. Leaders included in the India alliance are saying that BJP sees its defeat certain. For this reason such allegations are being made. However, the important thing is that Hemant Soren's affidavits available on the Election Commission website are visible to everyone and everyone is questioning him.
Usually, in the age of new candidates, issues of fraud come to light, but here, in the age of the Chief Minister itself, issues of fraud have come to light. He is also the Chief Minister who had to leave his post on scam charges and after getting bail, he has become the CM again. In such a situation, there is a lot of uproar in Jharkhand before the voting.
Hemant Soren's age scam
What is the matter?
In the affidavit given by Hemant Soren to the Election Commission in 2019, his age was 42 years, but in the affidavit he has given at the time of nomination for the elections in 2024, his age has become 49 years. That means his age has increased by 7 years in 5 years. The opposition is raising questions on this. However, supporters of Hemant Soren say that applications are accepted only after examining all the documents. The election officer has accepted the application. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said, “They (BJP) will say new things to divert the issue. We are confident that we will win and form our government again.”
BJP targeted
On the controversy over the age of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawala said, “JMM means 'bags, Muslim appeasement and mafia'. The JMM government, which has set new standards of corruption, is now doing corruption in the affidavits also.” Hemant Soren's age has increased by 7 years in the last 5 years. This is how he has committed corruption and scams.” Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's Rajya Sabha MP and Ranchi candidate Mahua Majhi said “BJP raises all kinds of issues. They do not want to contest elections on the issue of development. They try to stab in the back, but they will not succeed. We Will win and form government here.”
