Bathinda: Farmers attacked the police team in Bathinda, Punjab. An ASI has been injured in the attack. The policeman has been admitted to the hospital. According to the information, farmers associated with Indian Farmers Unity Ugraha attacked the ASI with sharp weapons. Police said that during the bidding of paddy in Raike Kala village, the farmers union surrounded the Naib Tehsildar and Inspector.
The police had gone to rescue the hostage officers
DSP Harbans Singh Dhaliwal said that during the paddy procurement process on Monday, members of farmers' organizations attacked a team of Punjab Police in Raike Kalan village of Bathinda. The DSP confirmed that an inspector and a Naib Tehsildar were held hostage by the farmers for some time. The ASI was injured in the attack and was admitted to the hospital.
DSP Dhaliwal said that during the purchase of paddy in Raike Kalan village, the farmers union surrounded the Inspector and Naib Tehsildar. When our police party arrived they requested to release our officers, but the farmers union did not agree. When the police team tried to rescue them, they (farmers union) attacked them. One of our officers was injured. Our vehicles were vandalized. The Tehsildar and Inspector were freed.
Dhaliwal said that the ASI rank police officer was attacked with the intention of killing him. He has suffered injuries. They were attacked with sticks, sabers and knives. We will take action as per law.
