On the occasion of this beautiful festival of lights, hundreds of locals and tourists lit lamps all over Lal Chowk. Lal Chowk in the center of Srinagar was bustling with tourists during the day and the entire market was illuminated with lights on the occasion of Diwali. The festival of Diwali was celebrated with great enthusiasm in this entire area. Officials said that for the first time in this area, Diwali has been celebrated in a grand manner on such a large scale.

Lal Chowk was once plagued by the terror of separatists and stone pelters and it was difficult to even think of celebrating Diwali here in a grand manner.
