The final decision on ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has not been taken yet. It was expected that this would be discussed in the ICC meeting to be held today i.e. on 5th December and whatever easy path would be finalized, it could not happen. The new ICC Chairman Jay Shah took charge today and his first day after assuming the post was in the ICC office. It was believed that Jai Shah would resolve this issue on the very first day, but it could not happen.
Champions Trophy is to be organized in February
The Champions Trophy is to be held in February next year. Although it has been hosted by PCB i.e. Pakistan Cricket Board, but BCCI has refused to send Team India there. BCCI says that there is a security issue of Indian players in Pakistan, hence the team cannot be sent. BCCI said that all the matches of India should be played at some other venue. Although at first he was not ready even for Pakistan. But later he accepted this. It is said that Pakistan Cricket Board has now agreed to the hybrid model, but it wants to name it something else instead of hybrid.
PCB is making a lot of demands
Not only this, Pakistan Cricket Board is also demanding something else, so that its respect is preserved, ICC and BCCI are not ready for this. Pakistan Cricket Board also wants that a series involving India, Pakistan as well as a third team should be conducted at a neutral venue. However, no consensus has been reached yet regarding this. PCB has deposited half the weapons so far, but the remaining ones will also be deposited soon.
Now a decision is expected in the meeting on 7th December
Meanwhile, it is learned that today was Jai Shah's first day, so he took charge and also met other officers. Information has been received that now there will be another ICC meeting on 7th December i.e. Saturday, in which the final decision can be taken. By the way, it is said that the schedule of Champions Trophy is almost ready. That too will be released after the ICC resolves the entire matter. However, you may have to wait for a few days for this.
