Satellite internet service is going to start soon in India. The telecom regulator has cleared the way for this. The regulator had recently asked for feedback related to spectrum allocation for satellite communication, which will be finalized by December 15. After reviewing all the suggestions related to spectrum allocation, spectrum will be allotted to its service providers. After this satellite internet service will start in India.

Apart from Jio, Airtel, Voda, Elon Musk's Starlink and Amazon Kuiper project have applied in India's satellite internet market. Jio and Airtel have got the green signal from the telecom regulator to start the service. At the same time, Elon Musk's Starlink and Amazon have to complete the compliance, after which they will also be allowed to launch the service. Starlink has said that the company is ready to meet the compliance of the government.

Elon Musk's satellite communication company Starlink had applied to start satellite internet service in the country in October 2022 itself. Earlier, the company had published the details, price etc. related to booking satellite internet connection on its website, which was later removed by the company. Currently, satellite internet service in India requires regulatory approval and network allocation.

The price of Starlink satellite service is not officially confirmed in India at present. However, the former head of the company had said that for the first year the user will have to spend around Rs 1,58,000 for it. At the same time, from the second year it will cost Rs 1,15,000. However, this expense will be covered by levying a 30 percent tax on using the service. For the first year, the user will have to spend to purchase a Starlink satellite receiver. Because of this, the user may incur higher expenses in the first year. According to Starlink's Website, free satellite internet service will be provided to the users as a trial for 1 month.
