A new warning has been issued for smartphone users. Users are prohibited from downloading some apps. These apps steal your personal information from your smartphone and pass it on to hackers and you may suffer a major fraud. This warning has been issued for both Android and iPhone users. These apps look like genuine apps, but after downloading, they ask for necessary permissions from your device and steal personal information from your phone.
FBI warning
American security agency FBI has issued this warning for users. Recently, on January 18, the FBI said in its warning that due to this, money has been stolen from the bank accounts of many users. The agency said in its warning that Google and Apple have made many major updates in their app policies, yet users should not install some apps. FBI has named these apps as Phantom Hacker. Scammers are breaking into users' devices through these apps.
After stealing users' information, scammers make users believe that they are employees of the bank and hackers have tried to attack their accounts. In such a situation, users should transfer money from their account to a secure place. To save their money, users in a hurry fall into the trap of scammers and transfer money to their account. Not only this, scammers also cheat users in the name of technical support.
Do not download these apps
According to the security agency, do not download any app on your phone from the link received through WhatsApp or SMS.
Do not download the app on your smartphone through any e-mail or APK file.
Do not download apps from any third party store.
Never download any app from a link redirected through social media platforms.
How to avoid?
Always check the authenticity of an app before installing it on your phone, which many users do not do. For this, get complete information about the developer of the app. Before installing the app, also check the ratings and feedback given by the users.
Download banking or any kind of financing apps only by scanning the QR code given on the official website of that bank. Many times scammers upload apps similar to genuine apps on Google and Apple's app stores. Users download these knowingly or unknowingly and share their personal information with hackers.
