Under the new rules of SIM card, if you have more than 9 SIM cards active in your name, then you can be imposed a heavy fine. This year, TRAI has issued new guidelines regarding the issuance of SIM cards, according to which digital KYC (Know Your Customer) has been made mandatory for purchasing a new SIM card. Not only this, even if you want to get the SIM of your number re-issued, digital KYC is necessary. The telecom operator can verify your document by scanning the QR code given on the Aadhaar card to issue you a new SIM card.

Only 9 SIM cards can be issued

For SIM cards, only 9 SIM cards can be issued on one ID i.e. Aadhar Card or Voter ID or other document. Apart from this, it is necessary to have business document for issuing bulk SIM card. SIM cards cannot be issued in bulk without proper documentation. For doing so, a fine of lakhs of rupees can be imposed and the business entity can be blacklisted for two years.

Apart from this, it will be completely stopped only after 90 days of stopping incoming and outgoing calls on any SIM card. Only after this will it be issued to some other user. After SIM card swap i.e. replacement, SMS will not come for 24 hours. TRAI has taken steps to stop such OTP fraud. The point of sale or retailer issuing the SIM card will have to register with the telecom operators.

How to check how many SIM cards have been issued in your name

In view of increasing fraud, the telecom regulator has implemented these rules related to SIM cards. If you also want to know how many SIM cards have been issued in your name, then you will have to follow some easy steps.
