The government has taken a big decision regarding satellite service. Indian users are eagerly waiting for it. The government has made a big announcement in the Lok Sabha regarding the satellite network, due to which Jio and Airtel have been disappointed. At the same time, the way has been cleared for Elon Musk's company Starlink to come to India. During the winter session, Union Communications Minister Pemmasani Chandrashekhar has made the government's stand clear regarding satellite services. Jio and Airtel had recently presented their demands to the government regarding satellite network allocation.

Decision under the new Telecom Act

Union Communications Minister Pemmasani Chandrashekhar told in the Lok Sabha that under the new Telecom Act, we will take decisions only in the interest of the citizens of the country. Satellite service will be allocated administratively only. For this, the process of allocation will be started keeping in mind the economic and technical things. Jio and Airtel had demanded the government to follow the auction process for spectrum allocation like terrestrial mobile networks. However, the government has sought suggestions from the Department of Telecommunications and Regulator (TRAI) for this.

Recommendations sent to TRAI

A letter regarding spectrum allocation has been sent to the Telecom Regulator (TRAI) as a reference by the Department of Telecommunications, seeking advice regarding the price of spectrum, technical issues related to license etc. After this these recommendations will be sent to the satellite service providers. The Union Minister of State for Communications said, 'TRAI is yet to send its recommendations to DoT.' After this a decision will be taken regarding satellite spectrum allocation. Jio and Airtel want the auction process, while Elon Musk's company Starlink wants spectrum allocation through administrative process.

close competition between them

Service providers Jio, Airtel, Starlink, Amazon Kuiper are keeping an eye on satellite spectrum allocation. These companies have made their own preparations to provide satellite services in India. Jio and Airtel will be seen joining hands in satellite services like terrestrial mobile networks. At the same time, Elon Musk's company Starlink and Amazon Kuiper will also be in the field this time. In such a situation, there will be a direct competition between these four service providers.
