The government has issued a new scam alert regarding cyber fraud. These days, cyber criminals are cheating people in the name of traffic challan. The IT Ministry has issued a warning to the people saying that due to this people are being defrauded worth lakhs. People are sent a fake link to make payment of e-challan, due to which people are trapped and a big fraud is done.

The government has said in its warning that people are being sent messages, e-mails or notifications of fake apps violating traffic rules. In the given message people are asked to pay the dues of e-challan. The message sent contains a fake link, through which people are asked to make payment of the challan. Sometimes hackers even send people a link to download a fake app in message or e-mail. Many people get trapped in this trap of cyber criminals and lose their earnings.

This is how we aim

  • People are intimidated by sending fake messages in which people are told that their vehicles will be seized for not paying the challan. People get scared and fall into the trap of hackers without any verification.
  • Hackers are sending fake links to people through messages or e-mails. On clicking this link, a website similar to the government Website opens. Because of this, people easily fall into the trap of hackers and get cheated.
  • Many times, fake phone numbers are sent to people in messages, on calling which the hackers connect the call. Hackers take the help of social engineering to trap people and cheat them.

avoid like this

  • To protect yourself from falling into the trap of scammers, you have to keep some things in mind. Do not click on any link received in the message or e-mail. Do not share any information without verification.
  • You should ignore messages and e-mails without verifying the person sending the message or email. If you have opened any link by mistake, then first verify the given website.
  • Such e-challan or any government notice comes from an official e-mail. In such a situation, first verify the sender's e-mail and sender's number.
  • Never share your personal information, bank details etc. with anyone.
