The telecom regulator has given its recommendations to DoT i.e. Department of Telecommunications by December 15 for starting satellite broadband service in India. Now the Telecom Department can soon take a decision regarding the allocation of spectrum. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had said that like 2G, spectrum will be allocated for satellite broadband service. However, Jio and Airtel are in favor of spectrum allocation through auction.

According to the recent reports, a decision regarding satellite internet service in India can be taken in January i.e. this month. Allocation of spectrum to access service providers can be done soon. After this, satellite broadband can be started in India. After the launch of satellite broadband service, users will be able to access high speed internet even without any mobile network or optical fiber. This is going to be very special for the internet world. A decision on spectrum allocation is awaited by TRAI.
