The rapidly popular Chinese AI model Deepsek R1 has been banned. This AI tool has been accused of sending the user's data to China. As soon as this AI was launched, there was a stir in Silicon Valley of America last week. Chinese AI challenged many tech companies. The Governor of the US state of Texas has banned the uses of Deepcic AI Tool in the government device. Even before this, there has been a demand for rolls on the Chinese AI tool.
These social media apps were also banned
The Governor of Texas has also banned the use of Chinese social media apps Xiaohongshu, Rednote and Lemon8 besides Deepseek R1. The Governor of Texas has said in its statement that the Chinese Communist Party will not be able to impress the Critical Infrastructure here through AI and social media apps that steal data. Governor Greg Abbott further said that these foreign actors will not be able to harm Texas.
The Chinese social media app Xiaohongshu has started becoming popular among American users after Trump took power on Tiktok for a few hours. This app is popular in China as well as Malaysia and Taiwan. The app has 300 million daily active users and is giving a tough challenge to Tiktok. Many American users started using this app as an alternative to tick-talk.
Accused of data theft
The banned lemon8 is also an app of Tik-Talk's parent company bytedance. This app also became very popular in America amidst news of tick-talk ban. After this decision of Texas, many more Federal governments can ban Chinese apps and AI tools. China has already been accused of theft of data. Tik-Talk has been banned for this reason in many countries including India.
The US startup company Perplexity AI has also been accused of data theft through Deepsek R1. However, the company's CEO Arvind Srinivas has recently confirmed that the data of American users will be stored in the data centers made in the US and the UK itself.
