A major cyber attack has come to light in Britain, in which hackers hacked the Wi-Fi network of 19 railway stations. The British Transport Police is investigating this major cyber attack. According to the reports, the hacked network has not been recovered till now. Not only this, hackers have also warned of terrorist attacks after hacking the public Wi-Fi network.

Cyber attack on 19 railway stations

According to BBC report, the public Wi-Fi network of 19 railway stations in the UK including London, Manchester and Birmingham was hacked. As soon as passengers logged in to use public Wi-Fi, they received a message regarding terrorist attacks. Strange security warnings and suspicious pop-ups started appearing in the messages, due to which the passengers got scared. As soon as the officials received information about this, the Wi-Fi network was switched off and the matter started being investigated.

According to a British Railways spokesperson, public Wi-Fi facilities will be restored by the end of this week. Not only in Britain, in many countries of the world, free public Wi-Fi facility is provided at places like railway stations, airports, shopping malls and community centres. In India too, public Wi-Fi facility is provided at every major railway junction through Google and Rail Wire. If you also use public Wi-Fi, then some things should be kept in mind.

Keep these things in mind

According to cyber experts, public Wi-Fi is not safe because anyone can easily access the network there. In such a situation, if you are using public Wi-Fi, then do not open any such website from where your personal information can be leaked.

  1. If it is not necessary, do not connect your mobile device to public Wi-Fi. Along with social media, bank accounts and UPI accounts are also linked in your smartphone. If the device is connected to public Wi-Fi, it will be easier for hackers to attack the device.
  2. If you are using public Wi-Fi in your laptop, then make sure that the laptop has anti-virus. Also, the firewall service of the laptop should be on. Due to this, hackers will have to work harder to hack your device.
  3. Not only this, if you want to browse any Website then browse it in Incognito or Private Mode only. By doing this your sensitive information will remain private.
