The country's second largest telecom company has asked users to stay away from calls and messages coming from unknown numbers. The telecom company has asked users to avoid fraud through SMS. Recently, the Department of Telecommunications has issued guidelines to telecom companies to prevent online fraud. Also, many new rules including message traceability have been implemented.

Airtel has warned its users through a message that if they receive any call, message or email related to KYC update, user ID, password, debit card number, PIN, CVV or OTP etc. If the link comes, ignore it. These could be cyber criminals, with whom sharing your personal information knowingly or unknowingly could result in major fraud.

Apart from Airtel, Reserve Bank of India and SBI have also issued a warning to users regarding banking and UPI fraud. - Cyber criminals can also trap you in the name of free gifts or rewards. In such a situation, if you get any call or message related to any free gift or lottery, do not respond to them.
- Many people fall into the trap of tempting offers from cyber criminals and share their banking details. By doing this they get cheated.
- According to the Reserve Bank of India, no bank or agency asks you for OTP, or PIN, nor does it ask for your account number and debit or credit card number. In such a situation, if you get any such call, it could be from a cyber criminal.
