Punjab captain and opener Shubman Gill (102) failed to save his team from the innings defeat against Karnataka on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Group C match despite a brilliant century. Gill scored 102 runs in 171 balls by adding 95 runs to his second day's seven runs. He hit 14 fours and three sixes in his innings. He scored his first half -century off 119 balls and scored the next 50 runs in just 40 balls. He was the eighth batsman to be dismissed for the Punjab team, which fell down by 420 runs in the first innings. In response to Punjab's 55 runs in the first innings, Karnataka scored 475 runs with the help of a double century of R. Samish (203).
The second innings of Punjab, which scored 24 for two wickets in the second innings, was reduced to 213 runs in 63.4 hours. Bengal gets defeat
Bengal suffered an embarrassing defeat of 283 runs on the third day of the match.
