'Khelo India' benefited a lot
The government's major plan 'Khelo India' was the most benefited in the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discover and pursue talented players at the grassroots level. A huge increase of Rs 351.98 crore has been announced in the allocation for the Games, the largest part of which will be given to the Khelo India program. This important plan has been allocated Rs 1,000 crore for the financial year 2025-26. This is Rs 200 crore more than a grant of Rs 800 crore of 2024-25.
A total of Rs 3,794.30 crore was allocated to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. This amount is Rs 351.98 crore more than the previous year. This increase is more in mind that there is no major sports event like Olympic, Commonwealth or Asian Games next year. The amount fixed for assistance to the National Sports Federations has also been increased from Rs 340 crore to Rs 400 crore.
