Turnip must be eaten in winter. Some people also call turnip as shalgam. This is a very beneficial vegetable. Turnip can be eaten raw as salad. If you want, you can also make vegetable or bharta and eat it. Turnip vegetable looks very tasty to eat. If no one is told then it would not be possible to know that it is a turnip vegetable. Ingredients for making turnip bharta
First step- You have to take 300 grams of turnip. It includes 2 tomatoes, 2 green chillies, some peas, finely chopped coriander, 2-3 spoons of mustard oil, a pinch of asafoetida, cumin, ginger garlic paste, some lemon juice, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli. Take powder, garam masala, salt as per taste.
Second step- First of all, wash and peel the turnip. Now cut the turnip into pieces like potatoes. Make paste of tomato and green chilli. Now heat oil in the cooker and add cumin and asafoetida in it. Now add ginger garlic paste and all the dry spices and fry.
Third step- Now add turnip, half red chilli powder and salt and fry it with spices for 1 minute. Now add ¼ cup water, close the cooker and cook till 1 whistle. After the whistle, keep the turnips to boil on low flame for 5 more minutes.
Fourth step- Now prepare the masala. For this, heat 1 spoon oil in the pan and add some cumin, turmeric powder, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste and fry the spices lightly. Add tomato and green chilli paste to it and fry. Now add peas and remaining spices.
Fifth step- Take out the boiled turnip and mash it. Now mix it in the prepared spices. Now keep cooking the turnip with spices for some time so that its taste becomes better. Delicious turnip bharta is ready. Add finely chopped coriander to it and eat it with roti or paratha.
