Yes, sweet potatoes make very tasty and soft gulab jamuns. If you try this recipe once, you will eat tasty Gulab Jamun without Mawa throughout the season. Know how to make sweet potato gulab jamun.
Sweet Potato Gulab Jamun Recipe
First step- To make Gulab Jamun from sweet potato, you have to take 1 thick sized sweet potato. Now boil the sweet potatoes in water in the same way as you boil potatoes. When it cools down, peel it and then mash the sweet potatoes by hand or with the help of a grater. Keep in mind that there should not be any kernels or lumps in the sweet potato.
Second step- Now add half cup milk powder, 2 spoons of flour and 2 pinches of baking powder, 1 spoon of desi ghee to sweet potatoes and mix. This should neither make the dough too wet nor too hard. If it seems tight then you can use 1-2 spoons of milk. You have to prepare a very soft and smooth dough. Cover it for 15 minutes and leave it to set.
Third step- Till then prepare the syrup for Gulab Jamun. For this, make syrup by adding 1 cup sugar and a little less than 1 cup water and stirring. You add green cardamom to it for taste. Make the syrup on medium flame. The syrup should not be too thick.
Fourth step- Now prepare Gulab Jamun balls. Take small balls and grease them and prepare all the gulab jamuns from the dough. Heat oil in a pan and fry the gulab jamuns while keeping the gas flame medium to low. Lower the gas flame for some time in between. So that these Gulab Jamuns get roasted from inside.
Fifth step- Fry all the gulab jamuns like this and take them out when they turn colour. Now add fried gulab jamuns in the prepared syrup and leave it for about half to 1 hour. With this, the syrup will reach inside the gulab jamun. Tasty and supersoft Gulab Jamun made from sweet potatoes are ready.
