Easy way to grow ginger in pot

  • If you are growing ginger in a pot at home, then you will need a deep and wide pot. The pot should be at least 12-18 inches deep. So that the roots can spread well inside. The bigger the ginger root, the more and better ginger will grow.

  • Fill the pot with light soil. That is, such a soil which has more sand or field soil and for water to drain easily from the pot, it is necessary to have holes in the pot. Now the root of the ginger that will be planted should be fresh. You can take fresh ginger root from the market.

  • Keep in mind that you have to choose such ginger which has started sprouting a few times. Now bury the ginger 3-4 inches deep in the soil of the pot. Keep the root in a circle so that the sprout part can face upwards. After pressing the ginger into the soil, sprinkle light water. But do not add too much water.

  • Now keep the pot in a sunny or bright place, protecting it from bright light. It is important to protect ginger from excessive heat. Ginger does not require much water. Just keep the soil slightly moist. Add light organic fertilizer to nourish the plant. This will make the plant stronger.

  • In case of extreme cold, keep the pot containing ginger in a warm place inside the house. It will take 3-4 weeks for the plants to germinate. When the plant becomes about 8-10 inches tall, keep providing light water and sunlight. With this the plant will start growing faster.

  • The ginger plant is ready to grow in about 8-10 months. When the leaves start to fade, you can uproot the roots. Now the ginger roots can be chopped finely as per your need. Use ginger as per your convenience.
