An incident of violence has come to light before the by-election to be held on November 13 at Samaguri assembly seat in Assam. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress have accused each other of firing targeting their supporters in the last 24 hours. Police gave this information on Sunday. It was also alleged that three journalists who had gone to report on the violence were beaten up by Congress supporters. This incident of violence happened on Saturday.
Firing done on the vehicle of MLA Jitu Goswami
Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma accused the Congress of 'indulging in violence under the cover of darkness' to intimidate BJP workers. He said that no one will be allowed to weaken the democratic process. A police officer said, 'We received information about the firing incident in Mari Puthikhaiti village of Samaguri. BJP workers alleged that shots were fired at the vehicle of ruling party MLA Jitu Goswami from the house of a Congress worker.
Ismail Hussain's son Imamuddin was shot
The police officer said that Goswami and BJP leader Suresh Bora were traveling in the vehicle. However, no one was injured in the incident. The official said, 'Congress workers alleged that BJP workers fired at Imamuddin, son of former zonal panchayat member of the party Ismail Hussain, due to which he got injured in the leg.'

Police said the injured Imamuddin was taken to a nearby hospital. According to the officer, the allegations are being confirmed. In another incident, independent candidate Musabbir Ali Ahmed was found seriously injured in an unconscious state on the road near his house in Katimari Grant area. Ahmed's supporters immediately took him to Nagaon, where he is being treated at a private hospital.
CM targeted Congress
Chief Minister Sharma said in a post on 'X', 'I strongly condemn the attack on Honorable MLA Jitu Goswami in Samaguri by Assam Congress supporters. This is the same Congress, which proudly holds a copy of the Constitution to show on camera and indulges in violence under the cover of darkness to intimidate our workers.
Elections are held here on 13th November
