India is continuously making a name for itself in the field of space science. India's space agency Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has created many records so far. Now another achievement is going to be added to the name of ISRO. ISRO will launch PROBA-3 mission on Wednesday. ISRO says join us live for PSLV-C59 rocket/ROBA-3 mission. ISRO's commercial arm NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) is cooperating in this mission.
ISRO will launch the PROBA-3 mission at 4:08 pm on December 4 from Sriharikota Space Centre. It is a mission of the European Space Agency (ESA). The PROBA-3 mission will study the Sun's corona. According to ESA, the 'PROBA-3' mission will study the outermost and hottest layer of the Sun's atmosphere. Let us tell you that ISRO has already launched two probe missions. The first was PROBA-1 launched in 2001 and the second PROBA-2 mission was launched in 2009. ISRO was successful in both the missions.
Will be launched from spacecraft
PROBA-3 mission will be launched from two main spacecraft. The first is Occulter, its weight is 200 kg. The second spacecraft is Coronagraph, which weighs 340 kg. After launching both the satellites will separate. These will later be positioned together to form a solar coronagraph. It will study the Sun's corona in detail. Let us tell you that the outer atmosphere of the Sun is called the Corona of the Sun.
What is PROBA-3 mission?
PROBA-3 mission is a partnership project of several countries in Europe. The group of these countries includes Spain, Poland, Belgium, Italy and Switzerland. The total cost of this mission is estimated at approximately 200 million euros. Proba-3 mission will run for two years. The special thing about this mission is that through it, 'Precision Formation Flying' will be tested in space for the first time. Under this, two satellites will fly simultaneously. These satellites will continuously maintain the same fixed configuration.
