Udupi: A major case of road accident has come to light in Kundapura Town of Udupi district of Karnataka. Seven passengers in the car were seriously injured in a collision between an insulator truck and an Innova car near Chandika Durga Parameshwari Temple on National Highway 66 near Kumbhashi. The injured passengers have been admitted to Manipal Hospital. The truck driver has also been injured and has been admitted to the hospital. Both the truck and the car overturned in the accident.
The car was coming from Kerala
According to the information, the Innova carrying seven passengers from Kerala was going from Kundapur towards Udupi. Near the entrance of Chandika Durga Parameshwari Temple, the driver allegedly started turning the car backwards to enter the temple premises. At the same time, a Mangaluru registered insulator truck carrying fish from Goa to Kerala collided with the Innova coming from behind. The collision was so strong that the Innova was completely damaged and the truck overturned.
Incident captured in CCTV
This incident of road accident in Kundapura Town was captured in a CCTV camera installed outside the temple. It can be clearly seen in the video that the car driver is backing up and the speeding truck hits him. The truck also drags the car to some distance. At present, Kundapura traffic police has registered a case.
Earlier, 39-year-old motorcyclist Mohammad Hussain died in a hit-and-run case near Belapu village in Udupi district. According to the police, the incident took place around 5 am on November 13 near Maria Bakery on Punchalkatte-Belapu Road, about 20 km from Udupi. Hussain was riding his motorcycle when a vehicle being driven recklessly hit him. After this the accused fled from the spot.
