Diwali 2024: Heavy traffic jams were seen in many areas of Delhi and Noida on Tuesday (October 29) ahead of the Diwali festival. Traffic in the national capital came to a standstill as shoppers thronged markets to celebrate Dhanteras, causing significant delays and inconvenience to commuters.
Commuters told Express that there is heavy traffic jam at many places including Badarpur Flyover, CV Raman Marg, Punjabi Bagh, Badarpur Mehrauli Road, Taimur Nagar-Maharani Bagh Road, Ashram and Yamuna Vihar. Several videos showed traffic jams in Laxmi Nagar, Karol Bagh, Sarai Kale Khan, Delhi-Noida-Delhi (DND) Flyway and many other parts of Delhi-NCR.
Sunil Yadav, who works as a legal consultant in a private firm, said, “There was a huge traffic jam from Barhapulla flyover towards Sarai Kale Khan. Vehicles were seen crawling on this route.”
Another passenger Vivek Singh said that heavy traffic jam was also seen between Madhuban Chowk and Rohini East metro station.
Apart from this, another X user said that Delhi is panting on the festival of Dhanteras. Just look at the traffic condition.
Another X user said, “There is traffic jam at a distance of 300 meters in and around New Ashok Nagar Metro Station. We are not able to see even a single traffic police personnel to solve this.
Traffic police gave information
Let us inform you that Delhi Police has said that they have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth flow of traffic. A senior traffic police officer said they have intensified checking on the road. We have deployed personnel on bikes to check encroachment on busy roads, areas where there may be traffic congestion. People who are coming to the markets are also informed to park their vehicles at designated places.
“The personnel have installed loud speakers on their bikes to ensure smooth traffic flow. Non-scheduled vehicles are not being allowed to enter the national capital. There is continuous anti-encroachment patrolling at crowded places,” the official said. A campaign is also being run.” ,
Metro making extra trips
In fact, during the festive season, Delhi Metro also said that it will start additional 60 trips on Tuesday and Wednesday to increase passenger convenience and reduce crowding.
