Addressing the people present at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi, he said, 'But attempts were made to erase Sardar Patel's great contribution to the country and belittle him. He was also deprived of Bharat Ratna for a long time. Shah said PM Narendra Modi installed the tallest statue of Patel in Kevadiya and gave him due respect.

Sardar Patel was honored with Bharat Ratna 41 years after his death.

Patel was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1991, 41 years after his death in 1950. The Union Home Minister said that the people of the country are now united and have dedicated themselves to fulfill PM Modi's dream of making India a fully developed nation by 2047.

'Run for Unity is being organized on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras'

Shah said, 'PM Modi has pledged before all the countrymen to make a fully developed India by 2047.' He said that 'Run for Unity' is usually organized on Patel's birth anniversary i.e. October 31, but this year it was organized two days earlier as it was Diwali. Shah said, 'Today we are organizing the race on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras.' Let us tell you that Modi government has been celebrating 31st October every year as 'National Unity Day' since 2014. Sardar Patel was born on 31 October 1875 in Nadiad, Gujarat.
