There has been news of a missing girl from Tehri district in Uttarakhand. The matter is of Kirtinagar area. Angered local people allegedly vandalized the shop of a youth on Tuesday after the girl went missing. Police informed about the incident. Police said that after registering a case, they have started searching for the girl who was missing since late Monday night. Besides, the accused is also being searched.
They also broke the hoardings of shops
Since morning, local people kept protesting in Kirtinagar market area demanding search of the girl and action against some people of a particular community and they vandalized the shop of a young man. Later they also broke the hoardings of some other shops. Angry people took out a rally through Kirtinagar main market till Jakhani. During this period, heavy police force remained deployed in the market area.
Accused absconding in the case
Meanwhile, BJP leader Lakhpat Bhandari said, “A minor girl from the city area was conspiratorially attracted towards a particular religion and an attempt was made to mislead her religiously as well.” He said that the police had been informed in this regard earlier also, but the police did not take concrete action. He said that the accused in the case is absconding and the police has not been able to trace the girl till now.
Appeal to maintain law and order
Tehri Additional Superintendent of Police JR Joshi said that a case has been registered against Salman, a resident of Najibabad in Bijnor district, under the Uttarakhand Religious Freedom Act and POCSO Act. He said that the search operation is going on since the girl was reported missing and the police will soon arrest the accused. He appealed to the people to maintain peace and law and order.
