Panaji: Two women police constables, arrested in Goa on charges of abetting their male colleague to commit suicide, jumped off the first floor of the Central Jail in Colvale in North Goa on Thursday. An officer gave this information. Constables Preeti Chavan (23) and Tanishka Chavan (21) suffered minor injuries and have been admitted to North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa town, a jail official said.

Prathamesh Gawade had committed suicide by jumping from Zuari Bridge.

The Crime Branch had arrested both of them on November 4 after the suicide of constable Prathamesh Gawde. Gawde had committed suicide by jumping from Zuari Bridge on October 25. In a video message recorded before his suicide, Gawde had accused two women constables and another man of harassing him. Gawde said he was taking this step due to severe mental stress.

Young man and girl committed suicide by hanging

In another case, a young man and a girl living in the same village in Sayana area of ​​Bulandshahr, UP, committed suicide by hanging themselves within a day of each other. Police sources said that an 18-year-old girl from the Muslim community living in Sahanpur village of Sayana area committed suicide by hanging herself from the fan latch at around 11.30 pm on November 3. He told that a 22-year-old youth from another community living in the same village committed suicide by hanging himself in his house on November 4 at around 1 pm.

Syana police station in-charge Premchand Sharma said that earlier the girl's family had accused the young man of luring her and taking her along. The young man was also arrested in this case. He said that the matter is being investigated on the basis of the complaint lodged by the family members of both. (with language inputs)
