Cyclist syndrome is a chronic pelvic neuropathy, which is more common in cyclists. This pain is more felt in those people who ride bicycles a lot. But some other reasons may also be involved. When such a situation occurs, there is pain in the genitals and people often make mistakes in identifying this condition. The reason for this is also that it is not able to get proper treatment. In such a situation, the person may have to face more pain for a longer period.
Therefore, one should not make any mistake in identifying cyclist syndrome. This syndrome is also known as pudendal neuralgia. When the pudendal nerve is affected, the risk of this syndrome is higher. In this condition the genitals may become numb and pain may occur again after 12 or 24 hours of cycling.

The pain gets worse when you are sitting or cycling.
Pain in pelvic area moving from here to there.
Pain in one or both sides of the body.
Feeling itching, burning and numbness.
Difficulty urinating or having bowel movements.
Having sexual dysfunction.
Reason
Just seeing this name, you might think that only people who ride bicycles can suffer from this condition. but it's not like that. This can also happen due to compression of the pelvic muscles. When the pudendal nerve is affected, this syndrome is seen. You may see this condition due to pregnancy, anatomic abnormality in the body, giving birth to a child or wounds caused by surgery.

Let us tell you that those who do not take proper care of their posture while riding a bicycle, or do not setup the bicycle properly. They are at higher risk of having this syndrome. If you also do not do stretching or warm-up before cycling, then you are more at risk of this condition. This can still happen to you if your core strength is not that strong. People whose nutrition and hydration needs are not met are at greater risk.
