Famous choreographer Saroj Khan is no more in this world. She passed away 4 years ago, but even today, when we talk about dance, how can Saroj Khan not be mentioned? Saroj Khan, in her career spanning over 40 years, made a contribution to Indian cinema that can never be forgotten. However, many people from the industry tagged the late choreographer as 'stern' and 'strict-mannered' and often shared stories about his harsh behaviour. Recently, well-known choreographer Terence Lewis also talked about her and revealed why she was so harsh.
Taught dance from Madhuri to Kareena
Saroj Khan was one of the most famous and favorite choreographers of Bollywood and has made stars like Madhuri Dixit, Kareena Kapoor to Shahrukh Khan dance to her tunes. But, it is also said about Saroj Khan that the late choreographer was as strict as she was serious about her work. Now Terence Lewis has spoken openly about his temperament.
Why was Saroj Khan so strict?
Remembering Saroj Khan on Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa's podcast, Terence said- 'People who ask why she used to abuse or behave so rudely? They need to know how difficult it is for women to work in this male dominated industry. Terence further says that even today this industry is still male dominated. It is very difficult for women to work in this industry. In this industry, women have to be rough and strong, the cruelty of the industry kills the woman inside them. Therefore, women have to be as tough as men to survive in this industry.
What else did Terence say about Saroj Khan?
Terence further says – “I don't know if you have ever noticed this or not, but in this industry, male choreographers are much calmer than women. Female choreographers abuse more than men. I am telling you. I will tell you why. They have to prove again and again, 'Don't take me lightly, I will teach you a lesson. But as a woman, we don't have to do that in this male-dominated industry.' You have to do this. It's sad, but people kill the women inside them. That's why they start behaving like men, walking and talking like them.
