Om Puri does not need any identity. He was one of the most talented actors of Hindi cinema, remembered for his brilliant and memorable performances. He is famous for his different characters. He has won people's hearts with his strong acting in every role, from villain to comedy. Om Puri's childhood was spent in many difficulties. He created a distinct identity in the film industry with his face and heavy voice. Om Puri started his film career from Kannada cinema. His first film was 'Kalla Kalla Bachitko', which came in 1975. The actor is known for his brilliant acting in Bollywood films 'Ardh Satya', 'Aakrosh' and 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron'.

Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron (1983): It is almost difficult to stop laughing in the Mahabharata scene of 'Jaane Di Bhi Yaaron'. Om Puri, famous for playing serious roles, surprised everyone with his acting in Kundan Shah's film. In 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron', Om tickled people a lot as Builder Ahuja and even today this film is one of his best films in cinema.

East is East (1999): He was one of the few Bollywood actors who made his mark internationally with films like 'City of Joy'. But, Damien O'Donnell's British film 'East is East' earned him his first BAFTA nomination in Lead Actor. In the film, Om Puri played the role of a Pakistani father who has to grapple with the problems of raising his children in a foreign land.

Gupt (1997): Om Puri was highly appreciated for his role of a steadfast and determined police officer in the suspense thriller.

Ardh Satya (1983): This film by Govind Nihalani shows the struggle of honest police officer Om Puri, in which he fights the corrupt system and internal battles. 'Ardh Satya' won him the National Award for the second consecutive year.

Paar (1984): Om Puri also played the lead role in Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi's film 'Paar'. The film exposed exploitation in Bihar in the 80s.

Aarohan (1982): 'Aarohan' earned Om Puri the prestigious National Award for Best Actor. He played the role of an oppressed farmer who struggles with a rich landlord (Victor Banerjee) for 14 years for a piece of land to which he is entitled.

Mirch Masala (1987): In this Ketan Mehta film, Om Puri played the role of an old Muslim doorman who helps Sonabhai (Smita Patil).

Outrage (1980): This arthouse film of Govind Nihalani received much appreciation from critics and audiences. This legal drama film stars Om Puri as an untouchable who is accused of murdering his wife.

Sadgati (1981): Satyajit Ray's film is a brutal indictment of the Indian caste system, in which Om Puri is shown as an outcaste. His brilliant acting was greatly appreciated by the critics.
