difficulties encountered
Jheel Mehta, while talking to Humans of Bombay, talked about a moment in 2019 that completely changed her life. Five years ago, the actress's father suffered a heart attack, after which the actress completely gave up the idea of acting. Putting aside her acting career, the actress decided that she would carry forward her family business and support her father. Meanwhile, he was being offered many new shows, but he ignored them all.
Got popularity from the show
Talking about Taarak Mehta, Jheel said, 'When children were enjoying Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah on TV, I was living it in real life. I was just 10 years old when my mother's friend told us about a new show that was going to come – TMKOC. After the first act, my mother interrupted me and said, 'Will you audition again?' That question changed my life. I went for the audition, where Asit sir asked me to say a few lines. I did so and just like that, I became a part of the TMKOC cast. Soon children started feeling connected with my character Sonu and strangers started asking me for photographs. From a common child, I became famous in every household and artists became my family.
turned away from acting
The actress further said, 'All good things must come to an end and in the year 2012 I decided to leave the show. People kept asking me why I left such a popular show, but I had board exams and wanted to focus on my studies. It was a difficult decision, but I had to do it for my future. I shot a few advertisements but in 2019 when Papa suffered a heart attack, I decided to keep everything aside and help Papa in his business. The little girl who once dreamed of the studio lights was now dreaming of a new dream – of becoming a successful businesswoman. And this dream was also from the heart, just like acting.
