A very sad news has come out from South Cinema where stars are mourning when Malayalam filmmaker Shafi left. Famous filmmaker Shafi died on 26 January in Kochi. He was 56 years old. He had a stroke on 16 January and was hospitalized since then. The sudden demise of the film maker has mourned in the South film industry. Apart from his fans, many celebrities including actors like 'Salar' fame Prithviraj Sukumaran and superstar Chian Vikram expressed their grief over his death on social media.

Shafi was being treated in the neurosurgeical intensive care unit. Condoling his death, Prithviraj Sukumaran shared a picture of Shafi on Instagram and wrote, 'Rest and Peace Bhai.' Confirming Shafi's death on Facebook, South actor Vishnu Unnikrishnan wrote, 'Shafi sir has left us, who will always be remembered. Homage.'

Chean Vikram shared an imonacious note expressing grief over the death of his beloved friend and the 'Thangalan' actor also wished his soul peace. He wrote, 'Today, I lost a dear friend and the world a brilliant filmmaker. He was a very good person who is very sad for me to say goodbye, someone who could see beauty even in the difficult times of life. He is no longer among us, rest and piece, my friend. '
Filmmaker Shafi's last film
MH Rashid got recognition in the South Film Industry from his stage name Shafi. He was well liked for the direction of his comedy films. He made his debut in 2001 as a direction with the 'One Man Show'. He directed more than 25 films in his two -decade career. Shafi's hit films include 'Pulwal Kalyanam', 'Thommanam Makkalum', 'Mayavi' and 'Marikondoru Kunjadu'. Shafi's last comedy film was 'Anandam Parmanandam' as a director which was released in 2022.
