Famous film director Shyam Benegal left a different impression with his films. His stories raised real issues and he tried hard to give a message to the society through every film. Director Shyam Benegal, who gave many unique films to Hindi cinema, has passed away today. He left this world on 23 December 2024. He breathed his last at the age of 90. It is being told that he died at 6.30 pm.
Had a relationship with Guru Dutt
It is being told that he was suffering from kidney related problems. Despite being ill for a long time, he did not stay away from work, he continued working on new projects. Stars like Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Smit Patil and Girish Karnad got recognition from Shyam Benegal's films. Shyam Benegal got a place among the best filmmakers of Indian cinema. Shyam Benegal was born on 14 December 1934 in Hyderabad. He was the cousin brother of famous actor and film maker Guru Dutt. Benegal was awarded the Padma Shri in the year 1976. After this he also received Padma Bhushan in the year 1991. In the year 2005, he was also awarded the highest film award Dada Dada Saheb Phalke Award.
