Well-known Bollywood film director Anurag Kashyap has given many classic films to the audience including 'Gangs of Wasseypur', 'Gulaal', 'Dev D'. But, now he has surprised his fans with one of his announcements. Anurag Kashyap has decided to leave Mumbai and he himself has revealed this. Anurag Kashyap recently told in an interview that he is leaving Mumbai. Along with this, he also revealed the reason for his decision and said that now making films is no longer the fun that it was before. Anurag also expressed his displeasure about the Hindi film industry.

Anurag Kashyap decided to leave Mumbai

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Anurag Kashyap talked about his decision to leave Mumbai. He told that he will leave Mumbai and shift to South by the end of 2025. Along with this, he expressed his displeasure about Bollywood and told the talent agencies as the reason behind this. The filmmaker says that talent agencies are setting wrong trends for new artists. Because, instead of honing the art of actors, these agencies focus on making them stars. If someone does not perform as per their expectations then they are left behind.

I can't experiment anymore- Anurag Kashyap

Anurag Kashyap said- 'Now I can't go out and do any experiment, can't make a different kind of film, because now everything comes down to money. My producers also think only about profit and margin. The movie doesn't start and the idea begins on how they will sell it. So that joy of making films is no longer there. Therefore, I have decided to leave Mumbai and shift to South by next year. I want to go and work where people are curious. Otherwise I will die like an old man. I am upset and disappointed with the thinking of my industry.

Bollywood's focus is on making remakes – Anurag Kashyap

Anurag Kashyap further said- 'Films like Manjummel Boys cannot be made as long as they keep thinking about remaking it. His thinking now is to make the film again which has worked, he should not do anything new. It has also become difficult to work with the present generation, because they only want to become stars. He doesn't want to act. Agencies do not make anyone a star at first, but when an actor becomes a star, they start looting a lot of money from him. Whereas, their job is to find good talented actors.

Anurag Kashyap angry at talent agencies

'When a film is made, talent agencies first get hold of the actor and start making him a star. Wrong things are put in their mind. They are told what they have to do to become a star. They don't send actors to workshops, they send them to gyms. Now everything is glam-glam, because everyone wants to become a big star. An actor left my film after listening to some agency, but later came back because that agency cheated him.
