pan The deadline for linking with Aadhaar has expired. The last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar was June 30, 2023. After this, the government is charging fine for linking PAN with Aadhaar. Let us tell you that from July 1, 2023, the Central Government is charging a fine of Rs 1,000 for linking inactive PAN with Aadhaar. The government has collected a total fine of Rs 601.97 crore from July 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024. In such a situation, is your PAN linked to Aadhaar? How to check PAN-Aadhaar link status?

Step-1: On the e-filing portal, click on Aadhaar Status in the Quick Links section.

Step-2: Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number, and click on the link View Aadhaar Status.

Upon successful verification, a message will be displayed regarding your Link Aadhaar status. This will give you information whether your PAN card is linked to Aadhaar or not.

How to know through SMS?

How to pay fine if there is no link

  • Step-1: Go to the e-filing portal home page and click on Link Aadhaar in the Quick Links section. Alternatively, log in to the e-filing portal and click on link Aadhaar in the profile section.
  • Step-2: Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number.
  • Step-3: Click on Continue payment through e-Pay Tax.
  • Step-4: Enter mobile number to receive your PAN and OTP.
  • Step-5: After OTP verification, you will be redirected to the e-Pay Tax page.
  • Step-6: Click on Proceed on Income Tax tile.
  • Step-7: Select the relevant assessment year and payment type Other Receipts (500) and click on Continue.
  • Step-8: Now, the challan will be generated. On the next screen, you have to choose the payment method. After choosing the payment method, you will be redirected to the bank's website where you can make the payment.
  • After paying the fee, you can link your Aadhaar with PAN on the e-filing portal.
