India India's leading telecom company Bharti Airtel has given a contract worth billions of dollars to Finland's telecom equipment company Nokia. This contract given by Bharti Airtel to Nokia will last for many years. Under this deal between the two companies, Nokia will install 4G and 5G devices in major cities and states of India. This information was given in the statement issued on Wednesday. As per the contract, Nokia will install equipment from its 5G airscale portfolio. These include the latest generation of base stations, baseband units and massive MIMO radios, all powered by its energy-efficient 'ReefShark System-on-Chip technology'.
Airtel users will get a new experience with multiband radio and baseband devices.
“Nokia has been awarded a multi-billion dollar expansion contract by Bharti Airtel to deploy devices across key Indian cities and states as part of its 4G and 5G network expansion plan,” the statement said. These solutions will enhance Airtel's network with exceptional 5G capacity and coverage and support its network growth. Under this deal between the two companies, Nokia will also modernize Airtel's existing 4G network with multiband radio and baseband devices, which can also support 5G networks.

Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel, the country's second largest telecom company, said, “This strategic partnership with Nokia will future-proof our network infrastructure and provide unique user experience to customers. This partnership will also provide a network that will be environment friendly.” Nokia President and CEO Pekka Lundmark said that this strategic agreement will further strengthen the company's presence in India. Besides, its long term cooperation with Airtel will also be strengthened.
