In the ILT20 League 2025 being played in Abu Dhabi, Gulf Giants defeated defending champions MI Emirates in a thrilling match on 25 January. However, there was a lot of drama in this match. Batting first, MI Emirates scored 151 runs on the scoreboard after losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Tom Banton scored the highest score of 56 runs for MI. In response to MI's score, Gulf Giants achieved the target of 152 runs on the last ball with 2 wickets remaining. A lot of drama was also seen in this match in the last overs. This incident occurred when Gulf Giants needed 18 runs to win from 13 balls. Tom Curran and Mark Adair were batting.

The last ball of the 18th over was driven by Mark Adair for a single over long-off. Both the batsmen completed the runs easily but Tom Curran left the crease believing that the over was over. However the ball was still in play. During this, Kieron Pollard, who was fielding at long-off, picked up the ball and threw it towards the keeper. Even before the ball could reach keeper Puran, Karan had left the crease. After Curan went out of the crease, Puran scattered the balls as soon as he got the ball in his hand and appealed for run out. After this, the replay was seen in which it was clearly seen that Curran had left the crease after completing the run and then the third umpire declared him out. The real drama started after this.

There was a lot of drama on the field

After being run out, Tom Curran started moving towards the pavilion when Gulf Giants coach Andy Flower, standing outside the boundary, expressed his protest. After this he signaled Karan to stay on the field. The MI players were not happy at all after seeing this scene but seeing the time being wasted, they decided to call back the MI Emirates batsman. After this incident, Mark Adair returned to the pavilion on the first ball of the next over. At the same time, Tom Curran also walked in the last over. Despite this, Gulf Giants managed to win by 2 wickets.
