Mumbai From veteran actor Dharmendra, Amol Palekar, Sharmila Tagore and Madhuri Dixit Nene to Divyendu, all the actors of the film industry from generation to generation respect actor and visionary filmmaker Raj Kapoor. The birth centenary of great actor, director and producer Raj Kapoor is being celebrated on Saturday. He made many memorable films like 'Awara', 'Barsaat', 'Shree 420', 'Sangam' and 'Mera Naam Joker' during his illustrious career spanning 40 years. He died in the year 1988. Amol Palekar, who played a middle-class hero in parallel cinema in contrast to Raj Kapoor's grand and sweeping narratives, said he admired actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor's work in the early stages of his career. Amol Palekar said, “We met only once, for a very short time but never after that. But, I especially admire the initial phase of Raj Kapoor. He played the character of a common man in a different way, a man who stumbles and makes mistakes. ,

Palekar, 80, told PTI, “His early films were similar to what is seen today as leftist thinking. All those films are about a common man, an exploited person who is criticizing, commenting about the system. That was Raj Kapoor.'' Sharmila Tagore credited Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar for making 'acting a wonderful profession'. Tagore said, “From Dilip Kumar to Raj Kapoor, all of them have contributed to cinema. We all are very grateful to our great men. All the films of Raj Kapoor are being released in theaters again. I hope people see these. Madhuri Dixit described Raj Kapoor as a passionate and visionary filmmaker who was willing to go to extraordinary lengths to create great cinema. Madhuri said, “Raj ji was a very passionate filmmaker. I have heard that he would mortgage his house or even sell his house to build sets or do whatever he could to make a beautiful film.”
Veteran actor Dharmendra posted an old picture with Raj Kapoor on social media. Dharmendra (89) wrote in a post on Instagram, “Dear Raj Sahab, wishing you a very happy birthday. We miss you so much! You will always be remembered with great love and respect.'' Anil Kapoor said that Raj Kapoor's birthday is special not only for him but for the entire Indian film industry. Actor Divyendu, who made his mark with the web series 'Mirzapur', said that Kapoor is the 'writer of Indian cinema'.
