Famous film producer and director Subhash Ghai has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. The 79-year-old was taken to the ICU on Wednesday after suffering respiratory problems, weakness and frequent dizziness. According to hospital sources, Ghai is currently under the close observation of a team of specialist doctors including neurologist Dr Vijay Chaudhary, cardiologist Dr Nitin Gokhale and pulmonologist Dr Jalil Parkar. A hospital source told Screen that Subhash Ghai's condition was showing signs of improvement. The source said Ghai is likely to be shifted from the ICU to the general ward within a day.
Who is Subhash Ghai?
Subhash Ghai is a veteran director who has made films like Ram Lakhan (1989), Khalnayak (1993), Hero (1983), Karz (1980). Subhash Ghai is also known as Showman. Subhash has been directing films since 1976. Subhash debuted in 1976 with the film Kalicharan (1976), a film he made without any prior directorial experience. The film was rejected seven times before it came to NN Sippy, who gave Ghai the chance. He followed this two years later with Vishwanath (1978), but achieved major success with his third film and first under his Mukta Arts banner, Karz (1980). Along with the hit pairing of Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim, Karz brought together Subhash and Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Subhash Ghai has directed many films in Bollywood till now. Many of which films have been superhit at the box office.
