Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan recently attended the Red Sea Film Festival, where he opened up about his initial fear of producing films. Despite his stellar track record as an actor and producer, Aamir Khan admits that his journey in cinema has depended more on “luck” and “accidents” than confidence.

Talking about this, Aamir Khan said- 'I don't find anything easy. Whenever I hold a film in my hands, I get nervous about it. I look at every project with excitement and anxiety.” He also said that this weakness of his extends to his role as a producer, because the stakes are even higher. He added, “As a producer, In, one small mistake and the entire film can be ruined.”
Aamir was scared of his father's struggle
Aamir Khan revealed that he was afraid of filmmaking because of his father. His father, late Tahir Hussain, had to face huge challenges as a Bollywood producer, due to which he was afraid to take up this responsibility. Aamir says- “I have seen my father go through hell. It's a thankless job.'' However, when the superstar came across the script of Ashutosh Gowariker's 'Lagaan', his perspective on filmmaking changed.
Why was Aamir Khan hesitant about Lagaan?
Aamir revealed that despite being impressed by the story, he was initially hesitant. He feared that no producer would be able to do justice to this ambitious project. He said, “I was afraid that the producer would start twisting the director's arm.” The script was developed keeping Aamir Khan in mind, which took 18 months. After this, Aamir agreed to take over the responsibility of production for 'Lagaan'. Decided and got success in it.
The success of the film gave confidence
The sports-drama was India's entry to the Oscars in 2001. The film received global acclaim, debuting with the Audience Award at the Locarno Film Festival. Talking about it, Aamir said- “Everything happened very organically. The film became a success in its own right, being released throughout Europe and beyond. This success inspired Aamir to embrace the role of producer more confidently.
