A surprising news has come out from the tribal dominated Palghar district of Maharashtra. Mold and live larvae were reportedly found in the breakfast served to students of at least two schools aided by the Zilla Parishad and the state government here. Palghar District Magistrate Govind Bodke confirmed the incident and said that samples have been taken. He assured action against the supplier after the lab report comes.
Complaints mainly came from here
According to the information, complaints were mainly received from Anand Laxman Chandawar School of Khanivali and Chinchani Zilla Parishad School Number 3. Here chikki (a sweet, nutritious snack) was found contaminated. The parents claimed the breakfast was covered in mold and live larvae. A parent of a child said, “The health of our children is at risk. How can we trust the food being given to them?” Meanwhile, another parent claimed, “We have complained repeatedly, yet the administration is being negligent towards our children.”
When will action be taken?
District Magistrate Govind Bodke said that it is true that fungus and larvae were found in the food given to the students of some schools of Palghar district. He said, “District level education officers have collected the samples and sent them to laboratories for detailed reports. We will have to wait till the laboratory submits the report. After the report is submitted, action will be initiated against the supplier.”(Input (With PTI)
