This is the first time in the history of the Indian Navy that a brother and sister are commanding Indian Navy warships at the same time. Actually, Commander Prerna Devasthali and Commander Ishaan Devasthali are brother and sister. Both are commanding different warships at the same time. Commander Prerna Devasthali last year became the first woman officer to command a warship in the Indian Navy. Presently Prerna is commanding INS Trikant which is a fast attack ship.
Brothers and sisters took command of warships
Whereas Prerna's brother Commander Ishaan Devasthali has now been given the command of INS Vibhuti. Let us tell you that INS Vibhuti is a Veer class missile ship of the Indian Navy. Let us tell you that Vibhuti ship was part of the steam ship given to President Draupadi Murmu near the Goa coast in the Arabian Sea. Both the siblings are currently commanding their respective warships under the Western Command. Let us inform that on 7 November 2024, President Draupadi Murmu visited the aircraft carrier INS Vrikant along with Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi. He also witnessed operational demonstrations by the Indian Navy.

During this time, President Draupadi Murmu in his address also praised the Indian Navy a lot. Draupadi Murmu said, 'Indian Naval units have been deployed for extended periods in vast areas, showcasing their capabilities and strategic effectiveness.
