The government has extended the date for free online updating of Aadhar card details to 14 December 2024. If you also want to update any detail in your Aadhar card, then you should know about the rules issued by UIDAI before updating the details. You can make changes in name, address, mobile number and date of birth in Aadhar card. However, there are different rules for updating different details.

How many times can details be changed?

You can change the date of birth in your Aadhar card maximum once only. Apart from this, you can make maximum changes in the name only twice. However, UIDAI has not set any limit for changing mobile number and address. You can change the address and mobile number in your Aadhar card as many times as you want. However, some charges are levied by UIDAI for this. At present this facility is free till 14 December 2024.

Supporting documents will have to be given

To change any detail in Aadhaar Card, you will have to upload the supporting documents related to it. No changes will be made in your Aadhar card details without verification of supporting documents. For example, if you want to update the date of birth in your Aadhar card, then you will have to upload the birth certificate or high school mark sheet as a supporting document.

According to UIDAI, the request to update details in Aadhaar card is approved within 30 days. However, it may take up to 90 days to update some details. If you face any problem in updating your details, you can contact UIDAI helpline number 1947 or visit the nearest Aadhaar center and request again to change the details.
