Arjun Kapoor has been in the news since the release of 'Singham Again'. The actor's acting was highly praised. He entertained the audience in the role of Danger Lanka. The negative characters suited him well and he even dismissed the lead stars. No one could stand before him. Now, after the success of the film, Arjun Kapoor has made a big revelation related to his personal life, which will surprise you. The actor told that he is going through mild depression and he is suffering from Hashimoto's disease. He told in detail how he spent two years battling this disease and how he is dealing with it.
Actor suffering from depression
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Arjun Kapoor was talking about his new Rohit Shetty film 'Singham Again' when he revealed that he was under mild depression while shooting for the action film. The actor revealed that he sought therapy to deal with mental problems after his recent films did not perform well at the box office, adding that 'being a fat child caused him a lot of mental trauma'.
The actor had to take therapy
While talking in this episode, Arjun said, 'I started taking therapy. The depression and therapy part started last year. I didn't know if I was depressed or not, I knew something wasn't right, my life was filmed and now suddenly I would look at other people's work and think to myself, 'Will I be able to do this? Or will I get a chance?' I have never been a bitter or negative person, but this started growing inside me in a very strange way. I started therapy and went to a few therapists, but to no avail. So I was confused again. Then I found someone who really allowed me to speak. He described me as suffering from mild depression at that time, which is very appropriate for the circumstances.
weight starts increasing suddenly
In the same interview, Arjun also talked about how he 'always' faces some physical and health related struggle. Arjun said, 'I have not always talked openly about it, but I also have Hashimoto's disease, which is an extension of the thyroid (autoimmune disease that damages the thyroid gland). It's almost as if I gained weight because I couldn't take flights, because it increased mental stress. This happens due to increased anxiety. Your body is in flight or fight mode. This (Hashimoto's disease) happened when I was 30 and I resisted it and I said, 'No, this can't be happening'. My mother (Mona Shourie Kapoor) had this disease and my sister (Anshula Kapoor) also has this disease… If I look back today, I can see myself and my body changing through my films Am. In the year 2015-16, I was suffering that physical trauma for seven-eight years and then my films were also not running at the same time.
