Colombo: So far, 191 people, including six candidates, have been arrested in connection with complaints related to the 2024 parliamentary elections in Sri Lanka. Police gave this information on Saturday. News portal 'NewsFirst LK' quoted police media spokesperson DIG (Deputy Inspector General) Nihal Thalduwa as saying, “This includes 30 complaints of crime and 138 complaints related to violation of election laws.” He said that the 191 people who Those arrested so far in connection with complaints related to the 2024 parliamentary elections include six candidates contesting the elections. Police have also seized 45 vehicles in connection with these complaints. Meanwhile, the Election Commission said it has received 1,259 complaints related to the parliamentary elections. The news portal said that 13 of these complaints are in relation to violence. The remaining complaints are related to others. Investigation is being conducted in all the cases.
