How to apply for new voter id card: Sometimes Lok Sabha elections, sometimes assembly elections and sometimes municipal corporation elections – elections are held every year in some state or the other in the country. To vote in any election, you must be at least 18 years of age and your name must also be in the voter list. If your name is not in the voter list then you cannot cast your vote. Follow these steps to apply for voter card
- Go to the official website of the Election Commission https://voters.eci.gov.in/ and click on Electors.
- If you have an account on ECI, then log in by entering your mobile number, password and captcha or sign up to create a new account and then log in.
- Click on Fill Form 6.
- Select your state, district and assembly and enter your details correctly like name, father/husband/wife name, full home address, Aadhaar number etc.
- Upload self-attested Aadhar Card photo for identity and address proof.
- Enter the captcha code and click on Preview & Submit.
- After clicking on Submit, click on Yes in the pop-up on the screen.
- Once you click on Yes, the application will be submitted.
Voter card will be made a few days after completion of verification.
After the application is submitted, you will get a reference number. Save this reference number somewhere, only with the help of this number you will be able to know the status of your application later. Apart from this, you can also download the acknowledgment slip by clicking on Download Acknowledgment. Let us tell you that after submitting the application, your application will be verified at different levels. After completion of verification, Voter ID card will be generated online and after a few days, Voter ID card will be sent to your address.
